Kyrie had been taking dance classes at the community center for almost two years. She had a great time dressing up and learning some of the basics of ballet & tap. However, as she got older we found that her community center class was lacking in the structure and organization she needed to maintain her attention. So, we decided that it would be best to let her explore some new activities at the community center and continue her dancing at a dance school.
We got the recommendation for DanceArts Academy from some good friends and registered her after the new year. At registration, we took a tour of the school and saw some of the older girls dancing, including girls en pointe. Kyrie loved those girls on their tiptoes and has been asking when she'll be able to get pointe shoes. Though she'll have to wait for that, she is taking a 30-minute ballet & tap combo class each week with other 4 & 5 year old girls. They will perform as Itsy-Bitsy Spiders in an all-academy Mother Goose show in May.
This past week was Kyrie's first class, and she did great! The 30-minute class is perfect because the girls are paying attention and on-task every minute- no time for distractions or playing around. Kyrie had a great time, and her new teacher said that she did a good job! I'm looking forward to watching her progress and have fun!
Kyrie's grandmothers do a great job of making sure she has the cutest dance clothes and accessories. Nana Billie gave her this super-cute dance bag for Christmas. It's perfect for holding everything she needs for dance class!
