At the beginning of August, Kyrie & I spent a weekend at Girl Scout camp with our troop! During the weekend, the girls focused on camping skills, crafts, archery and cooking. A good time was had by all, and the girls look forward to another troop camp next summer!

Girl Scout Zipline Fun
After a successful Girl Scout Cookie sale, the scouts decided to spend some of their money on a zip-line outing in nearby Hocking Hills. They had a great afternoon on the Dragonfly course, which they navigated independently with big smiles and whoops of delight! It was a great afternoon with a great group of girls!

Girl Scouts 2016
We were happy to attend Kyrie's End of Year Potluck during which the girls performed songs and received awards. Kyrie presented her My Promise, My Faith project and was awarded a troop Top Seller badge for selling over 800 boxes of cookies. Her troop plans to use its funds for their Bronze Award project, a zipline adventure in the Hocking Hills and a troop campout. As always, we are grateful for our troop's leaders and those in our families & community who support our troop with donations, fall product & cookie purchases.

Kyrie Canoes
Kyrie joined several of her Girl Scout sisters at one of our local Girl Scout camps for a lesson on canoeing. It was a wet, chilly day, but the girls still had a great time on the water! After learning the basics of canoe safety and paddling, they climbed in to make their way around the pond. Then after they practiced moving around, they played a game collecting balls from the water's surface. Though soggy, they had a great time!
Kyrie's Birthday Donation
This year Kyrie requested that the children attending her birthday party bring supplies for a local cat shelter, Colony cats, in lieu of gifts for her. She was delighted to be able to deliver food, litter, paper towels, cleaning supplies and monetary donations to the shelter. We got a brief behind-the-scenes look at the operation and then spent time visiting the cats at the shelter. We are proud of Kyrie who lets her love of animals shine through!

Happy Birthday, Kyrie! #10
Ten years!! Wow!! Our little girl is growing up! She has done so much, and still has so much ahead of her! We were happy to share a weekend all about her! Of course, we started the day with a birthday donut... and ended the day with cake and presents! The next day, we would share the birthday fun with our friends at a pool party! A great start to another exciting year with Kyrie! Thank you to all our family & friends who helped make Kyrie's birthday a special one!
| Kyrie's party cake! She chose a pony theme for her party this year. Everything turned out very well... 10 years of party practice is paying off! Ha! |

Friendship Festival
Just a few photos from this year's Friendship Festival celebrating the Girl Scout's World Thinking Day! This year, the girls chose to represent Poland. They researched and presented information about life in Poland, Polish Girl Guides and famous Polish women Irene Sendler & Marie Curie. At the festival, they ran our troop booth, which included our information, Polish items, Polish foods (pierogies & pizzelles) and a Polish-themed craft. The girls also had the opportunity to tour the other booths and attend an informative session. We had a great afternoon!
Girl Scout Cookies
Kyrie & Darren hit the neighborhood in January to sell Girl Scout Cookies! She has been a Top Seller in her troop since she was a Daisy, and she loves knowing that her hard work helps to provide funds for her troop! Each year, she sells more cookies than the last, and this year was no exception. She will also participate in 2 cookie booths this year. Her troop is working on their Bronze Award project of making entertainment bags for people at a residential facility for the disabled. They also plan to go on a troop camp-out and would like to visit the Hocking Hills for hiking & zip-lining! We are proud of Kyrie for her hard work and Thankful to all our family, friends & neighbors who support her each year.

Living Herstory
Kyrie was very excited to learn that her Girl Scout troop would be working to earn the Playing the Past badge with a special Living Herstory party! Each girl chose a woman from herstory to study. Then they created a costume, made an accessory, wrote a speech and brought a dish to our Herstory Potluck. These girls (& their parents) did an amazing job! They looked great, and we had lots of yummy food to represent famous women.
Kyrie chose Sybil Ludington who went on a midnight ride during the Revolutionary War (like her more-famous counter-part Paul Revere), though she was only 16 and her ride was twice as long as Mr. Revere's. Kyrie was excited to put her costume together and made a mob cap, a handkerchief, a bag and a lantern. For the potluck, she helped make yeast bread, corn bread and fresh butter (which we served with the family preserves).
