Colorado16: Pike's Peak Cog Railway

Our last Colorado adventure was a ride on the Cog Railway up to Pike's Peak. We had a beautiful, sunny afternoon to make the trip! This was a wonderful experience and the perfect end to our time in Colorado! The trip takes about 3 hours with 30 minutes at the top of Pike's Peak where it was about 30 degrees (with a wind chill in the 20s). I took lots of photos of the beautiful scenery as we slowly made our way to the top. This was definitely an experience we will remember in a vacation that we all enjoyed! 

Kyrie's Birthday Donation

This year Kyrie requested that the children attending her birthday party bring supplies for a local cat shelter, Colony cats, in lieu of gifts for her. She was delighted to be able to deliver food, litter, paper towels, cleaning supplies and monetary donations to the shelter. We got a brief behind-the-scenes look at the operation and then spent time visiting the cats at the shelter. We are proud of Kyrie who lets her love of animals shine through!

Happy Birthday, Kyrie! #10

Ten years!! Wow!! Our little girl is growing up! She has done so much, and still has so much ahead of her! We were happy to share a weekend all about her! Of course, we started the day with a birthday donut... and ended the day with cake and presents! The next day, we would share the birthday fun with our friends at a pool party! A great start to another exciting year with Kyrie! Thank you to all our family & friends who helped make Kyrie's birthday a special one!

Degen's Dino-Mite Bowling Party

I made my cake-decorating tasks pretty easy this year and made this dinosaur cake using a toy dinosaur kit. I added a volcano and some jungle leaves going up the sides of the cake, and I think it turned out really well!

Degen had his party at a crazy-busy-loud bowling alley! Everyone seemed to have a good time, but I was too busy playing host and the kids were too busy bowling to stop for pictures until we got to our party room! We loved having our friends together for a few hours of bowling and arcade games! Thanks to our amazing friends for joining us to celebrate Degen's birthday! I have known most of these kids since they were in diapers, and it means so much to our family to have them in our lives today!
