I found a write-up about the Fair Oaks Pharmacy & Soda Fountain when I did a little research before our trip. On the original Route 66, it has been around for 100 years serving hungry travelers. We made our way there one evening with plans for dinner & dessert, but arrived too late for dinner. So... a banana split for dinner it was! The kids were thrilled with this special treat, and the three of us gobbled the delicious split right up. Then I let the kids peruse and choose some treats from the pharmacy's extensive candy selection, which included lots of old time favorites and hard-to-find candies. We had so much fun that we took Darren back with us the last night of our trip and shared a "Fair Oaks" sundae!
