Degen's coat-of-arms |
I like that our make-believe unit follows our unit about authors & artists because I think it keeps the kids thinking creatively. The kids started this unit by designing a coat-of-arms. This unit the focus is on fun in the worlds of make-believe. We read about princesses and pirates, superheroes and dragons and a whole lot more. This unit travels nicely into the kids' free time with sword fights and dramatic play involving all sorts of adventures.

Degen chose the words to complete this 'story' about a dragon. |

An illustration by Kyrie as part of a comprehension activity for the Princess & the Pea. |
Kyrie completed a country study about Russia during this unit. She really enjoys this part of lessons, and I am very happy with how much information she learns about each country.

Kyrie wrote her name and her brother's using the Cyrillic alphabet. Hers is above and his is below. |

Kyrie was very interested in how names work in Russia. She Russian-ized her and her brother's names. |
