Our first year of Girl Scouts ended with a family potluck and award ceremony. We started the evening off with some delicious food and conversation. The girls are always happy to be together! They all got to decorate their own garden-themed cake in honor of completing their first Daisy Journey, "Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden." Many thanks to our troop leaders: Rachel, Darrell & Melissa for a great evening & a fantastic year!

After the potluck, the entire troop recited the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law! They have learned so much this year, and they did a great job with both! After the recitations, Kyrie & her friend Mia were awarded the My Promise/My Faith pin for completing a project based on how elements of the Girl Scout Promise/Law are supported by teachings from our faith. Kyrie learned aBible verse, a Bible story and quotes from Mother Teresa, Princess Diana & Marian Wright Edelman to complete this project. We are proud of her for her work earning this pin and her work throughout her first year in Girl Scouts.

Kyrie also received a membership pin, a cookie sales pin and her recognition prizes for cookie sales. She was most excited for the stuff giraffe she earned. I love to see how full Kyrie's vest is with all her badges, pins & patches. She earned all her Daisy petals for learning about the Girl Scout Promise & Law. She also earned a badge for completing her first 'journey.' The back of her vest is filled with fun, activity & commemorative badges- a great reminder of a busy & happy year. We went home with another handful of new badges to add before the fall. I am wondering if we will have enough room for another full year of badges & fun!
