What time is it? Christmastime!

Because we were in the middle of our big room rearranging the day after Thanksgiving, we did not get around to putting up our Christmas decorations until Sunday. And we didn't decorate the tree until Tuesday. This delay in tradition somewhat reflects the delay that my Christmas spirit has had in making its appearance. We have been super-busy this year, and I have generally not felt well this past week.... I don't know, I just am not feeling the Christmas magic yet. Maybe I need some snow?!?

We don't have a lot of photos of the family decorating the tree. We put up ornaments after dinner and no one, except Kyrie, was feeling very photogenic. Kyrie did a great job puttin up ornaments this year! Degen started out strong, but got frustrated because he couldn't get the hooks & ribbons on the branches. He lasted about 10 minutes and then ran off to play. It wasn't too long before our tree was filled with ornaments from childhoods and travels and memories made.

Here are some of the other decorations that we put up. Our mantle has a Santa theme this year complete with our Santa advent calendar and our antique Santa & reindeer from Darren's family. Our creche is one of my favorite Christmas decorations. It sits in the window behind our tree.

After Darren added the garland (his specialty), we were ready for Kyrie to put our star at the top. This is the same star that Kyrie made a few years ago. I love having something handmade atop our tree, which is so filled with handmade ornaments. Kyrie is very proud that she made this star and that she is the one who gets to put it on top of the tree with Daddy's help.

Our finished tree! Beautiful! At this point in the evening, we would usually gather around to take some family photos, but that didn't happen. The photo below shows Degen's opinion on the subject of photos by the evening's end. (I would put him to bed soon after that photo was taken.)
