Homeschool: Valentine's Day & Love

These are a few photos from our Valentine's Day/Love unit. The kids had a card-making center that they really enjoyed. They each got a little mailbox and would put their little cards & notes inside those for each other. The photo below is our free-time activity basket. Each unit, I fill this basket up with games, books, magazines, manipulatives and crafts that they can work on when they finish their work or during any free time. I try to hit the after-holiday sales each year to stock up on these types of things for cheap. Holiday units are a lot of fun because of all the extra activities and things.

Some of the books we read this unit.

Degen working at the Alphabet Center. Each unit I give him letters and related pictures that he can sort to work on recognition and phonics sounds. We are almost finished with our first round of the alphabet (we do one letter each unit), and we will probably go through it another 5 times as we work our way to reading & writing.
