Well, I guess it was about a month ago (geez, I really need to update the blog more often) that I stepped on Lilah-cat, our tiniest kitty at just 5 pounds. I immediately knew that something was wrong with her leg, though I hoped it wasn't true. We took her to the vet and found out that her knee was dislocated. The vet popped it back in, but, unfortunately, the tendon was stretched and the knee would not stay in place. The options were not great, but the vet said she would try to hold the joint in place with the hopes that it would heal properly. Lilah spent one week in a splint, which did not keep the joint in place. At our next appointment, the vet fashioned a sling for the back leg, and we kept Lilah kenneled for most of the day. Success! We went back the next week and the knee was still in its joint, so we kept the sling on for another week. That week, Lilah was fed up with the kennel and did everything she did to escape. Figuring that escape & chase had a better chance at hurting her knee, I dismantled the kennel. When we returned to the vet, the sling was removed and the joint stayed in place. She is walking/running/jumping on the leg, and it seems fine. I started giving her glucosamine cat chews that first week and continue to give them to her today in an effort to keep the joint healthy. We are glad that the leg has healed!
