Over the Christmas break, the kids got to spend a lot of time with their neighborhood friends, and a lot of that time was spent outside in the snow. One afternoon, the kids were going out (again), and as they headed out, I spotted a hawk sitting in the backyard. He stayed and stayed even as the neighbor girls built their snowmen and after my kids went out to tromp around the yard. He had caught himself some lunch in the snowy cold and would not be scared off from his good meal. The kids were great and gave him his space. He stayed out there for at least 20 minutes before he was able to fly off with the rest of his meal firmly clutched in his talons. Soon after he left, the kids made their way over to the patch of snow where he had been dining to see what had happened. The last picture captures that, and you can just barely make out Kyrie's disgusted face.
