This week's play date was at Kingdom of Bounce! It was our first time there, and the kids had a lot of fun! We spent almost 3 hours climbing, bouncing and sliding! Right before we left, Degen did one of the big, inflatable obstacle courses all by himself! We look forward to returning to play again soon!

Disney Princesses on Ice
Parenting is not always easy nor is it always fun, but taking the opportunity to treat your kids to something special can really be a treat for both of you. Today, I took Kyrie to Disney on Ice. It was just the two of us(you forget how easy having just one kid can be), and we had a great time!
Degen is at an unpredictable age- at any moment he can have a massive breakdown- so our approach is to either avoid situations which require a reasonably-behaved child or have Degen stay home with one parent while the other parent goes places with Kyrie (or blissfully with no children at all).
We usually let Kyrie decide which parent will take her to special events, and usually she chooses Darren. It makes sense because she doesn't get to spend a lot of time with him during the week, but this week she said she wanted to go to Disney on Ice with me. It was an all princess show, perfect for a mother-daughter outing!
Cookie Architect
Another snowy day means another day for bakery confections! Kyrie & I had a great time putting together a packaged gingerbread house this past week! She made all the design decisions and was very careful adding all the candy details.

Guacamole
My kiddos can eat some guacamole! We went to Chipotle for lunch after a morning at the community center last week and Kyrie ate an entire serving of guacamole all by herself.
Cat Nap!
A few weeks ago, Degen started having some naptime troubles. Well, he actually went from not napping at all for about a week, which was not a problem to wanting to nap, but waking up as soon as I tried to put him in his crib. Kyrie was a poor napper throughout her toddler days, so I decided to try what worked for her: napping in our bed. This has been a great solution. Degen is back to napping daily, napping better and.... he's sleeping well at night, too.

Snowfall
We enjoyed a beautiful snowfall last week that kept us inside for the day! It was a good reason to have a quiet day at home and the snow falling outside was absolutely gorgeous!
Kyrie takes a quiet moment to look at a magazine in one of the bay windows.
Let Them Eat Cupcakes!
Last Tuesday, we took a snow day, and I finally let Kyrie put her new baking tools to work to make a batch of miniature cupcakes. She had a lot of fun mixing up the batter and even more fun decorating the cupcakes with an assortment of candy after they had cooled. She felt like a real baker in her apron and hat!
Here are Kyrie's step-by-step instructions for making delicious mini-cupcakes:
Step 1: Dry Ingredients (may we recommend a box?!?)
Step 2: Moist Ingredients
Step 3: Mix Well
Step 4: Quality Control
Step 5: Prep the Pan with Baking Cups
Step 6: Carefully Pour the Batter into the Baking Cups
Step 7: Bake, Cool & Frost
Step 8: Decorate with Candy
