Homeschool: My Home, My Community

This unit flows nicely from our study of America, exploring where we live and what makes a community successful. Part of this unit is spent talking about the people who work in our community with a more in-depth look at firefighters and a(nother) talk about fire safety. During this unit, the kids are encouraged to be creative in thinking about where they would like to live and different types of houses. Kyrie and I spent time poring over one of our new books: A Street Through Time, which shows a fictional, yet historically accurate, place 10,000 years ago and at important periods of time throughout history illustrating the rise and sometimes fall of civilization. She was fascinated!
