We are wrapping up another great year of Girl Scouts. This was Kyrie's first year as a Brownie and her third as a Girl Scout. As in the past, Kyrie completed work to earn her My Promise, My Faith pin. This is a project that she looks forward to each year. She picks a line from the Girl Scout Law and finds a Bible Story that goes along with the line. Then we learn about women who also exemplify those characteristics and interview a woman of faith. Then we compile all of the information. This year, I suggested a pop-up book, and she loved that idea!
Here is a look at her completed project:
We talked about a couple Bible stories that might fit the characteristics friendly & helpful, and Kyrie really liked the story of Ruth. We read a few different versions of the same story in several of the children's Bibles we have.
We talked about three women in history who were friendly & helpful: Jane Addams, Florence Nightingale & Audrey Hepburn.
Via email, we interviewed Kyrie's Great-Aunt Teresa who works for Catholic Charities office.
Thank you, Aunt Teresa, for helping Kyrie with her project AND for helping others in your community through your faith and your work. We love you!
