Operation Christmas Child

As the holidays approach, we try our best to teach our kids not only about how grateful we are for all we have, but also that we should share what we have with others. This year, I was excited to learn about Operation Christmas Child. This program asks participants to fill shoe boxes with small gifts, candy, school supplies & toiletries. The boxes are gathered and sent to children in need throughout the world. As soon as I saw this, I knew it would be a great project to do with the kids. We chose to fill boxes for children who were Kyrie's & Degen's ages respectively. This really helped put the activity into perspective for Kyrie. When we went shopping, I asked her to pick out items that she herself would like to receive. We completed our project by filling our boxes, bagging candy and decorating cards for the recipients. No matter the charity, whether you give of your time, money or talent, I encourage everyone to find a way to share what you have with those in need
