Homeschool16: January

Kyrie's spider-web

One word to describe our family right now is BUSY! So, I haven't been keeping up with the blog nearly as well as I used to nor would like to, but it is what it is! In January, we started right back to our regular homeschool schedule, and our first three units of the new year were: Time, Friendship, Manners & Martin Luther King Jr, and Celebrate Me.

This year, we are doing a new art curriculum that focuses on the main elements of art and creating art projects using them. Our first lessons have been about lines and understanding how to create and use lines in our art. The kids really enjoy this addition to our curriculum, and we use our unit folders as our 'canvas.'

Before we worked on our spider-webs, we talked about all the different kinds of lines we can use to make art.

Degen's spider-web

Degen's quilted Lilac-pup. He used contour lines to make the picture of his favorite lovey, then added lines & patterns to create a quilted look.

This month, Degen completed his study of landforms & bodies of water. He has been studying maps & directions for his Social Studies.

Each unit, we focus on a Bible story or topic of faith. In January, we talked about prayer. Kyrie learned the Lord's Prayer and Degen learned about the practice of prayer.
