Homeschool: Make Believe

Some of our read-aloud books for this unit.

I like that this year this unit got wedged between our Books and Halloween units. The kids had a fun time reading about dragons, princesses, superheroes and other fairy tale/nursery rhyme characters. Degen built castles with blocks and both kids made crowns and painted fairies. We ate elf cookies and sipped soup with princess & star shaped noodles. Degen worked on using visual clues & memory to "read" 5 classic nursery rhymes over the course of this unit. And Kyrie's 'big' project was writing her own fairy tale.

Degen, especially, enjoyed looking at the pop-up books.

Some of our extra activities.

Kyrie's unit folder. The scene is a companion to the story that she wrote.

This was a great kit that Kyrie got for her last birthday. Both kids enjoyed decorating their crowns.

Our princess!
Kyrie worked on writing nursery rhymes this unit. She liked this one best!
