Hooray for the first summer playdate of the year! We were happy to join some of our friends to visit the zoo, specifically the new Heart of Africa exhibit. It was a beautiful day and a bit crowded, but I really liked the new exhibit, and we had a great day overall. I wasn't sure what to expect from the Africa exhibit, but they did a great job making it feel like you are looking out on a vast savanna. There are several groups of animals who roam free in the distance. You can also see lions and cheetahs up close in smaller exhibits, and while we were there a zookeeper was giving talks about animals in a large enclosure. I look forward to going back, though I am sure it will remain crowded throughout the summer.
