Indianapolis Children's Museum (2012)

We started our visit with a ride on the antique carousel, which is where we ended our visit last year!

At the end of October, we made our journey to Kansas with our favorite "roadside attraction": The Indianapolis Children's Museum! This was our second year stopping off at this fantastic museum. Last year, we started at the bottom and ran out of time, so this year we decided to start at the top and see what we missed on last year's visit. We were able to see some of our favorite exhibits from the year before and explore new exhibits, too. It was another fabulous trip for everyone!

One of the exhibits we missed last year was Scienceworks. There was a lot for the kids to explore: everything from how water flows to animal habitats to healthy habits. We spent a lot of time here, and I am sure that the kids would have spent more.

Another fantastic exhibit that we missed last year was all about taking a trip to Egypt. It starts with a faux plane ride and includes a country house and a city apartment, marketplace, cafe & spice shop. There's tons of information all about what life is like in Egypt. The kids had lots of fun with this exhibit! We dressed up, made music with traditional instruments, smelled spices and learned a lot about life in Egypt.

Last year's pop culture exhibit was Barbie, which was perfect for Kyrie! Well, this year it was Degen's turn because Barbie was gone and the new exhibit was all about Hot Wheels. Degen was immediately drawn to the racetracks and cars. He sent car after car zooming down different tracks (with a little help from Daddy). Kyrie settled in at a design desk and went to work creating her own car designs. This was a great wrap-up to our visit. Too soon, we would head back for the car to drive-drive-drive. The kids hated to go, but we promised that we would make it back again next year!
