Kyrie joined several of her Girl Scout sisters at one of our local Girl Scout camps for a lesson on canoeing. It was a wet, chilly day, but the girls still had a great time on the water! After learning the basics of canoe safety and paddling, they climbed in to make their way around the pond. Then after they practiced moving around, they played a game collecting balls from the water's surface. Though soggy, they had a great time!

Kyrie's Birthday Donation
This year Kyrie requested that the children attending her birthday party bring supplies for a local cat shelter, Colony cats, in lieu of gifts for her. She was delighted to be able to deliver food, litter, paper towels, cleaning supplies and monetary donations to the shelter. We got a brief behind-the-scenes look at the operation and then spent time visiting the cats at the shelter. We are proud of Kyrie who lets her love of animals shine through!
Homeschool16: March
Our March units included: Make-Believe, St. Patrick's Day & Weather, Easter & Spring, and Transportation & Space. We reviewed a lot of concepts and covered a lot of new information, as we begin the fast-ride to summer. I feel like I am missing some pics from these units, but I haven't been able to find them on my computer, so I will just go ahead and post this, or it might be fall before I get to it.
Both kids are doing well and making progress, especially Degen whose reading skills continue to improve as he masters 3- & 4-letter sight words. He puts those skills into practice reading primers & Scholastic magazines that support our unit themes.

Field Trip: Franklin Park Conservatory
We always enjoy spending time at the Franklin Park Conservatory. It is an especially fun place to visit during butterfly season! It was a beautiful spring day, which gave us an opportunity to spend time exploring the outdoor gardens a little. We explored gardens and flowers, butterflies and bees!

We were captivated by all the bees collecting from the tulips. We spent a lot of time watching them. |
