Colorado16: Seven Falls

Slightly out of order, I nearly forgot that on Monday evening, we visited Seven Falls and had dinner at the restaurant at the base of the falls: 1808. I am just a little regretful that we didn't have more time to explore this park in the daylight and that we couldn't take Darren. It was really beautiful, but we didn't arrive until the evening and had to fit in a dinner reservation. The falls were beautiful! We climbed up just one set of stairs to the first level on the falls. Whew! I could feel that climb in my legs for the next few days of our trip.

Colorado16: Cave of the Winds

We spent the afternoon at the Cave of the Winds. We took a cave tour. This was the kids' first cave tour, and I think they really enjoyed the experience, especially the minute when the guide turned off all the lights to show how dark the cave is. I remember loving the same experience on a cave tour when I was a kid.

After the cave tour, the kids did the "air walker" obstacle course and rode the "bat-apult" zipline. They had passes so they could do both as much as they pleased. They rode the zipline and did the obstacle course twice. The park wasn't busy on a cloudy Tuesday, so they had full run of the obstacle course and spent almost an hour traversing the ropes and beams. The guide loved how adventurous they were and their willingness to try each of the challenges! They had a great afternoon!

Colorado16: Garden of the Gods I

After Darren began his conference, the kids and I made the most of our time with activities near the resort in Colorado and Manitou Springs. The weather was a bit chilly and overcast, but we enjoyed the driving and a hike around Garden of the Gods. These rock formations are absolutely beautiful, and we were so awed by our visit that we took Darren back at the conclusion of his conference.
